About AlphaLab
AlphaLab is a paper trading simulator and strategy backtesting platform for stocks, ETFs, options, futures, crypto and commodities. You can build trading strategies, test them on years of historical market data, and then run them live on paper using real market prices, all without putting any real money at risk.
Paper trading vs. backtesting
Most simulators are either a pretend wallet or a professional terminal. AlphaLab sits in the middle: realistic fills, commissions and slippage, in plain English. Backtest an idea on the past, then paper trade it in the present to see if it holds up.
Paper trading
Place simulated trades on delayed market prices and watch a strategy play out as the market moves today. Your positions, cash and P&L update over days and weeks, just like a real account, without risking real money.
Backtesting
Run a set of rules, like buy & hold or a moving-average crossover, against years of past price data in seconds. You see how the strategy would have performed, including return, drawdown and Sharpe ratio, compared with simply holding.
Beyond simulation, AlphaLab brings research into one place: a stock screener, watchlists with price alerts, company news with sentiment scores, SEC filings, an earnings and economic calendar, and portfolio risk tools such as sector exposure, correlation, drawdown and stress testing. An optional AI assistant — available as an add-on to the Trader and Pro plans — can explain your results and answer questions about your simulated portfolios.
AlphaLab also includes a Learn hub: a tiered curriculum of lessons and quizzes on markets, technical analysis, risk, and portfolio theory, with sources cited in Bluebook format.
